Before becoming a paper engineer, I was a total fan of pop-up books and anything papercraft related. I want to share with you people that inspire me everyday.

One of my favourites because of her amazing mix of simple mechanisms and bold beautiful illustrations.

Marion is an award-winning paper engineer, author of the mega viral book JIM, which is the funnest pop-up book I’ve ever opened. Her work focuses on geometric illustrations and clever pop-ups.

Super prolific pop-up book author. I collect her whimsically delightful collaborations with illustrator Louise Comfort such as Fairy Treehouse or My Fairy Garden. Her work left a lasting impression on a lot of people’s childhoods.

In addition to being the author of multiple best-selling greeting cards for the MoMA Design Store since 2016, one of her most notable works is “Creatures of the Deep” where her detailed mechanisms bring Ernst Haeckel’s illustrations to life.

This duo’s books are amongst my favorites for their combination of delightful illustrations with simple pop-up techniques. I would like to highlight Ocean and Popville from their work.

His jaw-dropping work became mega viral in the early days of youtube, and for good reason. His often white structures showcase outrageous knowledge of engineering.

Layered, shaped and typography based work. Discovered his work at a talk in Madrid and followed ever since. One of my favourite projects from him is his collaboration with NASA.

Argentinian duo that have been creating the most beautiful papercraft animals for over 10 years.

Fellow Madrid paper engineer that made me realize that this art form could be a career. Her domestika courses have taught thousands of people the beauty of pop-up.

A legend when it comes to pop-up templates. I remember seeing their work on pinterest way before I even knew what paper engineering was.

I think I’ve been following Cheryl the longest. I stumbled upon her paper art on twitter probably a decade ago and I’ve been in love with her colorful little paper scenes since.

Yeni specializes in high quality paper models crafted for luxury brands. Her work is super clean and detailed.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that Yoojin marked a before and after in paper engineering aesthetics: Very design forward, with an emphasis on illustration and a style that brings the playful aspect of pop-up to all ages. 

American artist AlleyMcGlynn translates the cutest scenes in the smallest sizes.

Paul is one of the most viral paper engineers on the internet. His renditions of popular memes as pop-up cards have been endlessly reposted and received thousands of likes across social media platforms. Apart from having a great sense of humor, Paul shares his knowledge through his youtube channel.

Matthew is one of the most prolific pop-up authors to date. His pop-up books include Harry Potter, Transformers, Game of Thrones, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. The list is endless. His work features intricate mechanisms that have revolutionized paper engineering.

One of the most influential paper engineers of the last decades. I’m confident you’ll recognize his work by the titles alone. He’s the author of best selling pop-up books based on traditional tales such as Alice in Wonderland, The Beauty and The Beast and Wizard of Oz.

Brilliant paper prop maker from Barcelona that creates scaringly accurate paper models and sells them on his etsy.

The brilliant paper engineer behind the series Tobidasu!Ugoku! His clever mechanisms have been relentlessly plagiarised but no one can do it like him.

Ingrid’s architectural creations are a prime example of paper excellence. In her interviews, Ingrid admits that it may take her 20, 30 or even more mock-ups before perfecting the final prototype.

Thai artist Nuengruethai Suwanchom goes under the alias Pla/Yim.leklek and shares on social media her layered compositions and fun workshops.
